Spotlight on: New arts and cultural developments in the regions

National Development Event Series

2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year for arts and culture across the regions in the UK. Join us on Tuesday 18 April at 12pm to hear directly from fundraisers, producers and managers of some of the biggest cultural projects set to open their doors to the public this year.

We are delighted to be joined by Emma Kane, Prospect Research Lead at Factory International (Manchester), Miranda Debenham, Freelance Producer at Theatre Deli (Sheffield) and Lesley Taker, Studio/Lab Manager at FACT (Liverpool) for this event.

We will hear from each speaker about the project they are working on and their day-to-day responsibilities. The panel will also touch on the current opportunities and challenges of opening a new venue or launching a new project in the current funding climate.

This will be a chance to find out what is happening behind the scenes of some of the UK’s most innovative and ambitious arts and cultural projects. If you have any questions in advance of the event for our panel, please send them to info@youngartsfundraisers.org.

Book your free ticket now via the Eventbrite link, and see you then!

About the Panel

Miranda Debenham has been working as a freelance producer in Sheffield for the past decade, and has recently joined Theatre Deli Sheffield as their Producer. She was the founder of the Local Theatre pop-up venue, and has just completed a Stage One producer placement at Sheffield Theatres. Her practice is informed by her experiences as a queer disabled woman, and she aims to centre care and generosity in all her work.

Emma Kane is Prospect Research Lead at Factory International. A new function within the organisation, her work includes managing prospects and stakeholders, and driving new income generation opportunities for the Development team, as Factory International gears up to open the venue later this year. Before moving into the arts, Emma was a fundraiser in the charity sector for four years, working with corporates, trusts and foundations, and individuals. She has also recently joined the board of Z-arts in Manchester and is enormously excited to be a part of another of the city’s brilliant arts organisations.

Lesley Taker is a Liverpool-based arts producer, curator and writer. She is interested in the ways that technology is changing art practice and discourse, and in works which deal with fluid identities, shifting truths, or unstable narratives. She is the Studio/Lab Manager at FACT in Liverpool, where her work focuses on artist development, experimentation, and residencies. Her previous roles have been in curation and exhibition-making, specialising in co-production and the development of new commissions. She has developed new work and presentations with artists such as Agnes Varda, Larry Achiampong & David Blandy, Ryoichi Kurokawa, Wu Tsang and Morehshin Allahyari.
